With a focus on competitive baseball development at the 13U and 14U levels, the Northeast Baseball Alliance teams compete in weekend series against a single NEBA opponent during April and May. Sometimes the series are four games; sometimes they are two or three games (depending on weather, field conditions, and other factors). Games can be a series of 7 inning contests or a combination of 7 and 9 inning games. Most games are played with metal bats, but wood is also used. Most importantly, the teams communicate amongst themselves to determine what the upcoming weekend series should consist of. With an emphasis placed on development in a competitive context opponents can plan pitching, distribute innings and at-bats, and compete in a league format that benefits players at 13 and 14 who are still transitioning to the big diamond.

NEBA and its member organizations are committed to growing tournament options in the New England region. Any organization interested in participating in a NEBA event should go the the “Tournaments” page for information and entry forms. Events hosted by member teams offer their own distinctive and independent management of the event. Most tournaments are “Open” events to teams from anywhere in the Northeast or elsewhere in the country. Some are select “Invitationals.” The majority are designed either to showcase talent, provide a competitive championship format, or to serve as an association qualifier for a national World Series. NEBA Tournaments are small to medium sized events featuring from 8 to 20 teams per event. 2010 Tournament Events are posted on the Tournaments Page of this site. The page is ammended and updated as new events become available. NEBA tournaments are the result of the cooperative efforts of the individual organizations affiliated with the Northeast Baseball Alliance.

The 2010 NEBA season shapes up to be an exciting season with 9 strong programs competing at the 13U and 14U level. The April and May NEBA Spring League schedule is defined by weekend series among the member teams. Each weekend in April and May features a 3 or 4 game series between organizations.

The 2010 schedule is currently posted on our “League Schedules” page. The pre-determined master schedule alleviates the scheduling burden for member teams while providing flexibility to make adjustments. The schedule maintains a high competitive standard. Cooperation among teams is a high priority.

The “regular season” is capped with the NEBA Championship Tournament in Worcester, Massachusetts June 4-6. Following the June championships most NEBA teams will participate in a variety of events and tournaments, many of them organized by member teams. The Alliance welcomes non-NEBA teams and programs to participate in these events. The Tournaments page provides more information.
